WE LOVE FLOWERS!

Flowers are the ultimate symbols of joy and comfort. However, in the modern world we live in, commercial flowers are causing environmental problems.

Most of the cut flowers we buy for ourselves or our loved ones are grown in different corners of the world. They travel to us via refrigerated cargo before arriving at flower boutiques. Even with massive amounts of resources devoted to production, transportation, and storage, flowers still wilt quickly — so not every one of them can be sold.

This leads to an enormous volume of discarded flowers left dead in landfills, where they mix with plastic packaging and other inorganic waste without a chance to shine.

Since flowers are always in demand — Valentine’s Day, birthdays, weddings, you name it — the industry is growing year after year.  Simply saying “Let’s stop having cut flowers altogether” would not make the cut.

But it doesn’t mean we cannot do anything.

Did you know? Approximately 40% of commercially grown flowers are thrown away before reaching consumers’ hand.

Flower Matter introduces circularity to cut flowers through the transformative power of waste.

We position ourselves at the intersection of Design, Science, and Business to transform discarded flowers into environmentally positive products with well-thought-through lifecycles.

Using (unwanted) flowers as resources reduces the need to extract (unnecessary) virgin materials.

WE ARE HERE TO LEAVE NO FLOWERS IN LANDFILLS.
